The Board

The people and responsibilities behind MFPC’s films, radio and club activities.

How MFPC works

Members choose opportunities

General members hear about club activities and choose where to take part. When you join a project or team, agree your responsibilities and availability with its director.

Directors lead teams

Directors organise their programmes and recruit members for smaller project teams. They turn ideas into plans, coordinate the people involved and take responsibility for delivery.

Presidents coordinate

The co-presidents support directors, connect work across programmes and help resolve shared decisions, resources and scheduling needs.

Presidential coordination

The co-presidents coordinate the society’s work, support directors and arrange Board discussions. They help teams work through dependencies and agree the next steps.

Director responsibilities

These portfolios define the work directors lead.

Production Director

Leads a club film from concept to final delivery, building its cast and crew and coordinating preparation, filming and editing.

Radio Show Director

Leads Ticket Stub Talks, including editorial direction, episode planning, recording arrangements and coordination with CFMU.

Festival Director

Leads festival and event planning, including programming, filmmaker communication, screening materials and delivery on the day.

Marketing Director

Coordinates MFPC’s communications, campaigns and activity coverage, keeping announcements accurate and the club’s identity consistent.

Partnership & Development Director

Develops relationships and sponsorship proposals for club programmes, bringing external commitments to the co-presidents for approval.

Operations Director

Coordinates practical logistics, budgets, expense records, schedules and shared resources with programme directors and the co-presidents.

Taking on a Board role

Board members make a substantial ongoing commitment: preparing for and attending Board meetings, organising work, following through on agreed responsibilities and keeping other teams informed.

Board applications are separate from general membership and call for relevant experience. General members choose the activities they join; taking on a Board role adds responsibility for organising the club’s work.

The Board handbook explains procedures, decisions and handoffs in detail.
